During the spring and summer, you will have several opportunities to celebrate your accomplishments. In addition to the School of Public Health Graduation Celebration and UW Commencement, the Nutritional Sciences Program (NSP) and Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics (GCPD) will host a joint graduation celebration in your honor at the end of summer quarter.
Because eligibility, registration, and other specifics vary for each ceremony, the details are summarized below.
Sunday, June 10, 11:00am – 3:00pm
The School of Public Health Graduation Celebration takes place at the Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
10:00am: Graduates arrive for check-in and staging
10:30am: Alaska Airlines Arena doors open to the public
11:00pm: Graduation program
1:30pm: All-school reception at the Concourse of Hec Edmundson Pavilion
Who is eligible to participate: Autumn 2017 through Summer 2018 graduates are eligible to participate.
How to register: If you plan to walk in the SPH Graduation procession into the Arena, please RSVP by Monday, May 21, 2017, 11:59pm, so that names will be announced in the correct order. If you do not RSVP, your name will not be called and a seat will not be reserved for you on the Arena floor. Student RSVP for procession:
Caps and gowns: For this year’s celebration, at the request of students, wearing a cap and gown is recommended but not required. Information on ordering (between May 2 and May 20).

Saturday, June 9, 12:30pm – 4:30pm
12:30pm: Graduate line-up begins and doors open for guests
1:30pm: Procession begins
4:30pm: Ceremony concludes
Who is eligible to participate: Graduates who earned their degrees in Summer 2017, Autumn 2017, or Winter 2018, or have applied to graduate with a departmental adviser for Spring 2018 or Summer 2018 are eligible to participate.
Note: The Commencement program lists the names of graduates from Summer 2017 through Spring 2018. Summer 2018 graduates’ names will be listed in the following year’s program.
Caps and gowns: Caps and gowns are required for this event. Apparel must be ordered through UW Commencement between May 2 and May 20.
Friday, August 17, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
The joint Nutritional Sciences Program and Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics Graduation Celebration will take place on campus this summer at wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House (click here for map). This event will include a brief recognition ceremony, GCPD poster session, and reception.
Who is eligible to participate: All members of the GCPD 2018 cohort and NSP graduates from Winter 2018 through Autumn 2018 are eligible to participate. All GCPD students are expected to attend.
How to register: Graduates should RSVP to email@example.com. Please include the number of guests and note if any special accommodations are required.
Caps and gowns: This is not a cap and gown event.
