Our Work

Voices for Healthy Kids Campaign

This project is part of a comprehensive evaluation of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and American Heart Association’s Voices for Healthy Kids Initiative. We will identify and analyze state childhood obesity legislation that was introduced and/or enacted during calendar year 2017, the fourth year after the Voices for Healthy Kids Initiative awarded its first grant. This analysis will include examining trends in the number of such bills; differences in legislative activity in states with active AHA-sponsored policy campaigns and those without; content of the proposed/enacted legislation as it relates to RWJF’s overarching goals (the “5 Big Bets”), the original six priorities, and the Institute of Medicine’s policy environments; and the extent to which the proposed/enacted legislation addresses health equity.
